As a preacher’s daughter, Lauren De Witt had fond memories of kicking off December by decorating her Baptist church for Christmas. When she became Catholic as a young adult, it was a bit of an adjustment for Lauren to settle into the waiting period of Advent that the liturgical calendar provides: a time of silence and preparation, that doesn’t begin to truly celebrate the birth of Christ until the Christmas season officially begins on December 25th.
